Marched to his last drumbeat at home on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 after a short bout with cancer surrounded by his loving wife Arlene and two sons, Leif and Erik. Gary was born in San Francisco on Feb. 10, 1945 and spent most of his childhood and adult life in Sonoma County; Hessel, Graton, and Sebastopol, graduating from Analy High School in 1962. After high school, he was hired by the Division of the Forestry in 1963, and stayed for 32 years, retiring in 1997 as a Fire Captain. Survived by his wife Arlene, sons Leif and his wife Erica, and Erik, grandsons Spencer and Trent, brother John, brother-in-law Paul Rupp and wife Marilyn; also numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all. See ya Gary! Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park, 1700 Pleasant Hill Road, Sebastopol.
