Greg Hennessey Memorial

OCFA Greg Hennessey Memorial LODD 2014

Everyone,

The Line of Duty Death Memorial Service for OCFA Engineer Greg Hennessey is coming up Tuesday, March 4, 2014.  See notice from OCFA attachment above.  Our Calif. Fire Museum and Safety Learning Center organization is participating in this worthwhile ceremony since Greg was one of the founding members of our organization, and continued his membership up until his death.  CFM-SLC involvement and schedule of events is as follows, and if you would like to attend with CFM-SLC please let Pres. Don Forsyth know of your intentions.

Monday March 3rd.  2 pm at CFM-SLC Shop we will have a clean -up detail for CFM Engine 9107, our 1964 Crown Firecoach.  It would be nice to have some helpers to clean, wax and polish the rig.  It is in very good shape and will not be a major effort.  Anyone who can help with this clean-up detail, please advise so we know how much we will be able to accomplish that afternoon.

Tuesday March 4th,  anyone wishing to ride on 9017 to the service, meet at CFM-SLC Shop at 0730 am.  We can take the first 4 people besides myself who let me know they would like to ride.  I can bring coffee and bagels to the shop.   The rig needs to arrive at Saddleback Church by 0830 about 8 miles away.   We will be positioned right outside the main entrance to the Church next to the CSFA Steamer in static display.   The family and rig procession will arrive to the church about 0940 where we will be standing with our Rig in a show of honor to the arriving family.  Once the family passes, we will enter and be seated in the church together.

The 1000 hrs. service is a full fire service memorial and  is expected to last approximately 2 hours.  There will be a short reception outside the church under the patio area with finger food, refreshments etc.  IAFF Local 3631 is also hosting a gathering open to our members at The Hacienda on Lake Mission Viejo, at Vista Del Lago and Marguerite Parkway at the shopping center on Lake Mission Viejo following the services and reception.  The plan will be to return Engine 9107 to the Shop following the short reception and refreshments at the church following the services.  Anyone wishing to go back to the 3631 gathering may do so at that time if desired, as it is only 3 miles from the shop.

Any CFM-SLC members wishing to attend and participate and/or ride with our Engine 7, please let me know ahead of time so I know how many to plan for with our group.  The uniform of the day is quite open.  If you have a Class A, or Field Dress uniform from any agency and wish to wear that it is ok, or you may wear our more formal CFM-SLC light blue button down shirt with Black pants, or you may wear any other civilian clothes, and still participate with us as a CFM-SLC member in our doings.

You may contact me via any of the numbers, or email below with questions or notifying of attendance.
