Passing of Barbara Glavich

It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Barbara Glavich, mother of LNU Fleet Manager Chris and his brother Greg. Barbara had been battling cancer for some time and slipped into a coma, passing on September 1st.

Barbara was a kind and gentle woman; a true “lady” in every sense of the word. She began her CDF career in 1955 at Howard Forest in Mendocino County. During that time she met and married the love of her life, Gene Glavich, who was the Ukiah and Hopland Battalion Chief. They remained married until Gene’s untimely death from cancer in 1971.

In 1962 Barbara resigned from CDF, taking time off to raise her family. She couldn’t stay away; however, and reinstated in 1978 to Howard Forest where she remained until her retirement in 2007. She was an inspiration to everyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path.

Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 1:00 pm at the New Life Community Church, 750 Yosemite Dr., Ukiah. Donations may be made to the “Hospice of Ukiah”, 620 S. Dora St., Ukiah, 95482.
