Passing of Earl Mason

Earl Alton Mason was born in San Francisco on April 4, 1928 and laid to rest on May 22, 2015. He never knew his father and his mother died six weeks after he was born. He was raised by his grandmother, Elizabeth Rader, in Glencoe. He went to school at Mosquito Gulch Grammar School in Glencoe and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1946. He worked the summers of 1944-45 at Associated Lumber and Box Company in Wilseyville and went to work full time there until 1957. He married a local Glencoe girl, Helen Record, in 1948 and they built their first home in Glencoe. Son, Dennis, was born in 1951 and daughter, Renee, in 1954. Earl worked for the State of California, Department of Forestry for 22 years, Ranger District III in West Point until he retired in 1979. His next ambition was his dump truck and hauling gravel all about the county. He sold his truck in 1994 and fully retired. Earl is survived by his son, Dennis Mason and his wife Linda; daughter, Renee Kirk and her husband Fred; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. At his request, there will be no services.
