Steven “CaptSlack” Brown, loving husband, father and grandfather lost his battle to cancer April 2, 2016.
He was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on the 16th of April 1942. He and his family moved to California and finally settled in Redding, California in 1955. He served in the US Army for two years after high school before joining the California Department of Forestry, retiring after 35 years of service.
He married Darlene Brown his love of 49 years and is leaving behind three daughters, Joan Richardson (Don) of Redding, CA, Teresa Thompson (Jackie) of Redding, CA, Mary Caraway (William) of Reno, NV, and 2 sons, Steven E. Brown (Heidi) of Bremerton, WA, Carson Hanks, of Scottsdale, AZ. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his love for his family. He was an avid movie goer and enjoyed playing Pai Gow and Texas Hold’em at his favorite Casino’s.
A celebration of his life will take place on the 16th of April at the Anderson City Community Hall from 2 until 4 pm, 1887 Howard St., Anderson, CA. His remains will be laid to rest on the 18th of April at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 pm, 11800 Gas Point Rd., Igo, CA.
