John Witesman 1942 – 2016
John Witesman passed away on August 11, 2016 at Lake Almanor, California. John worked for CDF in the 1960’s and 1970’s as a Fire Captain in Lassen-Modoc, Shasta-Trinity and Butte Ranger Units. John was a true mentor to many a young firefighter as they learned the basics of their chosen profession from him. John then left CDF and started a very successful private business in Sacramento / Roseville. John is survived by his wife Kay, children, Kirsten Witesman (Chris), Brian Witesman, Angela Priest and Jason Priest and granddaughter Natalie Priest. John is also survived by his brothers, Rich (Mary) (Division Chief Orange County Fire Authority Retired) and Mike (Jane) (Fire Captain Specialist CDF Retired).
A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6920 Destiny Drive, Rocklin, CA, on September 17th at 2 PM. Condolence cards may be mailed to Kay at Cats Only Veterinary Hospital, 1220 Sunset Blvd, Rocklin, CA 95765-4337. information provided by Mike Witesman
