Passing of Edward Barney

Edward E. Barney passed away on Nov. 30, 2016. He was 90.

He was born on May 31, 1926 to Earl and Clara Barney in Alameda, California.

He served in the 467th Army Air Force from 1943 until 1946. He worked as a California Highway Patrol officer in Oakland and after moving to Grass Valley he worked as a Fire Captain for the California Division of Forestry (CDF). He later worked as a security guard at Grass Valley Group.

A longtime resident of Grass Valley and more recently Penn Valley, Ed loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed family camping trips in the Sierra Mountains.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary Barney; sons, Steve Barney and David Barney; daughters, Vicky Williams and Leslie McLellan, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents; his sister Winona Fosget; and his grandson Taylor Barney. Ed will be honored at a private memorial.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
