Jack’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 24th 2017 at Armstrong Woods picnic area located at 17000 Armstrong woods Rd. Guerneville, CA from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Jack Winfield A longtime Healdsburg resident, Jack passed on to his next assignment April 28, 2017. Born in 1931 to parents Jack and Lillian in Eureka, he is survived by wife Audrey, sons Paul and Earl, and grandchildren Emma, Kevin, Tyler, and Tate. Jack served the citizens of California his entire career. After growing up in park residences up and down the state, he graduated in Sebastopol from Analy High and worked for the school district as a bus driver/mechanic. Jack followed the footsteps of his Ranger father, securing a permanent position with the Division of Beaches & Parks in 1947. Transferring to the Division of Forestry in 1948, Jack was stationed in Mendocino and Sonoma counties before prematurely retiring in 1980 from job related injuries. He also gave three years active duty service to his country in the US Army, deploying during the Korean War as a Combat Engineer. Jack will be laid to rest with cousin Don Snider at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in lgo. A memorial will be held at a later date for family and friends. Donations in memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Forestry Crab Feed.
