It is with sadness that I advise you that Don Woods, retired Fire Captain in prevention, retired in 1983, passed away last night at around 6:30 p.m. with family by his side.
Don loved His CDF familly and so did his wife Lenora who also worked for CDF. Don helped to develop the weed abatement program for riverside county and he completely enjoyed serving the citizens of Riverside County.
In August 2, 1970, Don was awarded the Medal of Valor for saving the life of a lady that was encircled by fire in Reche Canyon, He drove his pick-up through the flames and was able to get her to safety. His
citation and Medal of Valor was for an act of heroism far above and beyond the call of duty or service.
His two favorite bosses in Riverside CDF were Dick Ernest and David Flake.
He was a man who made a great impact working for CDF. He will truly be missed.
Service info will be shared as soon as it becomes available.
Please keep the Woods family in your thoughts and prayers.
