It is with a sad heart that we share that Retired Chief Duane Mellinger from San Bernardino County, the father of deceased Cal Fire Division Chief Jeff Mellinger, died yesterday in the early morning hours. Duane had suffered from lung cancer for several months which spread throughout his body very quickly and he was being cared for by hospice. He leaves behind his wife Shirley, their children, family and friends. Service information is pending.
