It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of retired Fire Captain Deltes Cooper. Deltes began his career with CDF as a Seasonal Firefighter in June 1957 at the Millerton Fire Station. In May of 1958 Deltes received a permanent appointment to the Fire Apparatus Engineer Classification and promoted to a Fire Captain in January of 1960. As a Fire Captain, Deltes worked in the Schedule B program at Coalinga Fire Station as well as a number of Mid Valley Fire Stations. Deltas retired from Fig Garden Fire Station #21 on December 1, 1987.
He is survived by his wife Joanne and immediate family. His grandson Dennis Smith is a Fire Captain at the Blasingame FFS in FKU. Deltes was also one of the first members of CDFEA and was a huge part of the organization after signing up.
Services will be held May 13th, 10:00 am at God’s Family Church on 7272 W. Shaw, Fresno, CA. Graveside services to follow at the Clovis Cemetery on Villa and Herndon.
