Beloved Father and Grandfather passed away on May 14 in Redlands after a short illness. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia on August 21, 1919. He came to Highland with his family at the age of 5.
David worked as a firefighter at Norton Air Force Base, Patton Hospital and San Bernardino City. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth M. Anderson. He is survived by his daughter Marlys (Jacob) Mantel of Redlands, Grandson Troy Mantel of Albuquerque, Granddaughters’, Kelly Mantel of Coronado, Brenda (Douglas) Spoelstra of Redlands, and 2 nieces and a nephew.
Services will be June 17 at the Riverside National Cemetery.
