I am so very pleased to let you all know that things are really going quite well for me now that I am “on the mend.” My cardiologist has indicated that it appears that I have very slight to no cardiac damage after the placement of three stents on the 6th of September. The good Lord was certainly looking out for me, in that, had I been anywhere else at the time of my heart attack, I most likely would not have survived. Other than the chest pain from the broken ribs and sternum, I really don’t have any other issues. One thing for sure, it is much better to be on the top side of CPR, rather than on the bottom!
One of the most emotionally overwhelming things for me has been the the outpouring of calls, cards, and visits from my CDF family. Many of those friendships go back almost 40+ years, and the fact that they still endure today most certainly shows the “special bonding” that occurs in the fire service family. If your wealth is measured by family, and not monetarily, then I am a very wealthy man.
On behalf of myself and my family thank you all so very, very much for your kindness, concern, and friendships. I hope to see you all soon and share many more good times.
Sincerely,
Don Brooks and family
