Passing of Marvin Eaves Jr.

Mr. Marvin “Deacon” Lee Eaves, Jr. was born on September 21, 1946 in San Bernardino, California, to the late Mary Elizabeth Gowen Eaves and the late Marvin Lee Eaves, Sr.  Marvin passed away at age 72 on October 26, 2018, in Whitefish, Montana surrounded by his loving family.  Marvin served in the United States Navy from February 1965 until being medically discharged in August 1969. Marvin was Proud to serve on the U.S.S Ticonderoga CVA-14 during the Vietnam War.  Marvin started his fire service career in the summer of 1968 and retired as an Assistant Chief for CAL FIRE in 2002.  Post-retirement, Marvin was a member of Ferndale Fire Department from 2002 until 2013. Marvin worked as their Assistant Fire Chief from 2005-2008, Fire Chief 2008-2010, Assistant Chief Fire Marshall 2010-2013, and Fire District Chairman from 2010-2013. Marvin was a loving husband to Connie Sue Eaves and was married for 49 years. Marvin is survived by his three Children and seven Grandchildren.  Marvin loved Montana and enjoyed being in the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He also enjoyed traveling in his motorhome and spending time with his family at his Montana home. He loved and cherished his Church, and was the head usher at Cornerstone Community Church in Kalispell MT.  Marvin touched may people’s lives throughout his life and will be missed not only by his family but by everyone who has been a part of his life journey.  He will always be Connie’s “forever.”
