Passing Dan Castleman

Danny Lee “Dan” Castleman, 74, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at his home. At Dan’s request cremation will take place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sweet Springs Volunteer Fire Department in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com Dan was born November 21, 1945 in Tulsa, OK, and was the son of the late Richard Castleman and Martha Josephine Cooper Castleman. On August 4, 1992 he married Linda Fisher Hendrick. Dan lived in California for many years, working as a firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and retired from there after 32 years of service attaining the rank of Division Chief. Dan and Linda moved to Sweet Springs after his retirement and enjoyed spending time taking road trips antiquing. He was an avid baseball fan, having coached high school baseball in California and cheering on the Kansas City Royals. In addition to his wife, Linda; he is survived by one daughter, April Fernandez (Bob) of Hemet, CA; two step-sons, Jeramy Hendrick (Michelle) of Georgetown, TX and Jody Hendrick (Jessica) of Higginsville, MO; 10 grandchildren: Alexis Cornelius (Meika), Arika Loera-Flores (Cristian), Jessie-Rae Hendrick (Kolby), Ally Whittack, Bailey Hendrick, Madeline and Mason Villareal, Stephanie, Cindy and Ashlyn Fernandez; an “adopted” granddaughter, Madelynn Sonstegard; two great-grandsons, Lucas and Jackson Cornelius; as well as other extended family. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathy Duke.
