Pat was born Nov. 30, 1947 in San Diego. He attended elementary school in Campo and Ramona. He then attended high school in Ramona and Riverside, graduating in 1965. Pat began his career with CDF in June of 1965, as a FFI when he was 17 years old. He made $345 a month (before taxes)

It is with great sadness that I inform you all of the passing of Bruce Schmidt, age 73 and father of Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Fire Captain Mike Schmidt. Bruce was killed in a traffic collision yesterday afternoon on Highway 49 in the Jackson area. Mike is currently with his mother Donna in San Andreas. Please keep
